The Minister of Development met with a delegation from Bahrain Women Union and women’s associations

A delegation from the Bahraini Women Union and Bahraini women’s associations visited His Excellency Mr. Osama Al-Alawi, Minister of Social Development, in his office in the Ministry building on the evening of Monday, November 25, 2024, where the visiting delegation raised a number of topics and outstanding issues between the associations and the Union on the one hand and the Ministry of Social Development on the other hand.
One of the most important topics raised was the issue of financing, support, and headquarters, as well as the importance of developing the Civil Associations Law, including abolishing Article 43 of the law to enable all qualified women to run for the boards of directors of associations and the Women’s Union, as well as facilitating procedures, unifying regulations and laws, and making them written in clear circulars and decisions. The attendees discussed many related topics.
His Excellency the Minister expressed the Ministry's full readiness to support civil society, believing in its great role in advancing national development. He also affirmed the Ministry's readiness to simplify procedures in a way that contributes to overcoming difficulties and conducting business in the required manner.
The delegation included Her Excellency Representative Iman Shweiter, the President of the Union, Ms. Ahlam Rajab, Ms. Latifa Al-Najjar, Secretary, and a number of female members of the Board of Directors, including Dr. Maryam Al-Shatti, Ms. Iman Al-Asfoor, and Ms. Aisha Al-Dosari, as well as a number of association leaders, including Ms. Shahraban Sharif, President of the Bahrain Girl Renaissance Association, Ms. Nasra Al-Najjar, President of the Awal Women’s Association, Ms. Khadija Al-Sayyid, President of the Bahraini Women’s Development Society, and Dr. Rana Al-Sayrafi, President of the Bahrain Women’s Society for Human Development, Ms. Fatima Al-Kooheji, President of the International Women’s Association, Ms. Fathia Al-Kooheji, President of the Contemporary Women’s Association, and a number of representatives of women’s associations, including Ms. Zahra Al-Ashkanani, Vice-President of the Bahraini Women’s Association, and Ms. Noura Al-Marzouqi from the Hamad Town Women’s Association.
